Alright, alright... updates, got it...
So many things have been going on recently but so little time… but more importantly, I guess is the electronic screams of are you alive, where the heck are your updates are getting fairly annoying now. Hey, I got bored with writing, ok? Anyway, I figured, why not a collection of condensed updates then… just like the many newsletters that I get. Let’s see… where do I begin? Let’s start with an announcement then…
There will be wedding bells
Before you jump to any conclusions; No, it’s not for me. Modern medicine and Malaysia’s once abundant natural resource is still keeping that shotgun at bay, at least for now. Wedding bells will toll in the hills for the Princes this October. Congratulations to Chris, whom I’ve known well before I even joined this oil company and especially to Yen, here’s to a conclusion of your soap opera. The rest of us are still very much in mid-episode… *heh-heh*
It’s malignant
Those are dreaded words to hear at any doctor’s office. Sometimes I can still recall it all in vivid detail. It’s amazing how a whole life gets turned upside down by those mere words. An ex-colleague and a member of the family that I’ve sort of become part of as an extended family was diagnosed in stage 4 of a terminal disease. My prayers go out to you and your family for the difficult time ahead.
Your opinion matters
“I seriously need to know what you think”… a friend recently got into a spot of trouble in her relationship… and somehow needed to share it with me. *sigh* what am I? The local adaptation of Dear Abby? Sometimes I wonder what it’s all about, and is it for real that my opinion actually matters or is it that some people just want to gripe and release their frustrations and I’m just the convenient poor sod sitting around without anything to do?
To this, I’ve been answered that for someone who has apparently gone through a fair bit of ups and downs, I still seem to be having such a fun time and that I might have the answers to living the good life. *sigh* What else can I do? Sit around and mope? Never! There is nothing in my way and the day I stop having fun will be the day I decide it’s time to roll over and die.
PD Intl Triathlon
The PD International Triathlon was held in Port Dickson recently. It was fairly entertaining, what with apparently more than a thousand participants from 23 countries, including over 300 triathletes from down south, Singapore. Man, I gotta honestly say that fiery attitude, smoldering tan and hot bodies go damn well with Singaporean women. Malaysian women have so much to learn… especially about how awesome a hot tan on an athletic body can be. *hehehe* errr… yummm?
Don’t we all hate to lose
It’s been a little more than a month or so now since a group of us from where I work decided it would be a fun idea to join the local Hockey league. Playing under the banner of Enigma Hockey club as their team C, we entered the KL Hockey league’s Division 4b. So there we were, all gung-ho, registered for the league, but with a non-existent training plan and so obviously ill prepared. Amazingly though, after 4 games, we were among the league leaders with 4 straight wins. Of course the fifth game brought the whole team crashing back to reality after being outplayed by a bunch of ex-national veterans.
On a high for winning 4 straight, the team faced Royal Selangor Club’s hockey team; comprising mainly of late 40year olds who outplayed and tore us apart as they made us run around like a bunch of in-experienced boys. It was a sobering experience though as we finally lost our first game after a month in the league. Since then we’ve played a couple more games, winning again but losing yet another. Now with 7 of 9 games played with 2 losses and 5 wins, the team still stands a good chance of making the semi-finals, but damn, don’t we all hate to lose. Hey, SC, we’ve got 2 more games over the next 4 days if you wanna catch the action.
You’ve got registered mail
Last week the post office delivered my 3rd speeding summons within a month for the June/July timeframe. Damn! When did the traffic police suddenly get so damn efficient? *sigh* looks like it’s time to slow down. Bugger… I want a beemer again… somehow when I was driving the ultimate driving machine, I rarely got caught speeding. And here I was, thinking that with the cruise control, I can ensure that I stay within the speed limits… rite! Also, it does seem that there is now a 3rd 407 in the office. What can I say, people at the office obviously have good taste. That is one good looking car, no? Of cos it is. Good choice.
Fishing, fishing, fishing
Tailor runs off North Mole in November. What with the project moving on to SDA now, it’ll be a good time as any to visit friends in Western Australia with the boys and also get some mischief and fishing in as well. Been a while since me and the boys have gotten into any mischief lately. Mish, pack your bags for Nov, let’s head down under with the boys and have some fun in the sun & surf.
Sipadan
Finally, the PM has intervened to put a stop, albeit for now, to the ridiculous development on Sipadan. Forked tongues came to mind when it was revealed that there were plans to build a concrete clubhouse on Sipadan barely less than a year since all dive operators were asked to leave the island on the pretense of efforts to maintain a pristine and natural environment. Unfortunately, it had to take an accident by a barge that wiped out more than 300sq m of corals to bring this to light.

I’ve to admit that although I have not seen the damage personally, 300sq m is not a small patch and judging from the pictures distributed within the dive community, it is extensive. Yet, the officials reported the damage as minimal and in scattered small patches and was nowhere near the extent reported in the press. Hello? Look at the pictures… does that look like a small patch? Perhaps in the grand scheme of things and looking at the entire island and site as a whole, it may be a small patch, but nevertheless, that small patch probably took decades to mature to the level that it was at. Crikey, these fellas run the country!
Goddess is back!
One fine day at work, I got buzzed on Yahoo from someone who’d been silent for a while. Goddess has returned from the big apple and is now battling with the masses on the LRT daily…until her new pink beetle arrives that is. *hahahaha* … and she claims that ppl wished their girlfriends wuz hot like her… not shy ke, making such a bold claim? *heheheh* you’re no pussycat doll, M… at least not to me la.
