James Blunt - again...

Yup, I'm still on James Blunt... This time it's Cry.

James Blunt - Cry
I have seen peace. I have seen pain,
Resting on the shoulders of your name.
Do you see the truth through all their lies?
Do you see the world through troubled eyes?
And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

I have seen birth. I have seen death.
Lived to see a lover's final breath.
Do you see my guilt? Should I feel fright?
Is the fire of hesitation burning bright?
And if you want to talk about it once again,
On you I depend. I'll cry on your shoulder.
You're a friend.

You and I have been through many things.
I'll hold on to your heart.
I wouldn't cry for anything,
But don't go tearing your life apart.
I have seen fear. I have seen faith.
Seen the look of anger on your face.
And if you want to talk about what will be,
Come and sit with me, and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

Long way round

I've recently finished reading this book. I came across it when I was loitering in Borders a while back. Now, I can't say that was the first time I'd known about Long Way Round. Sometime back during an episode of Parkinson, there was Ewan McGregor being interviewed. It was around the time when Star Wars Episode III was soon to be released, so naturally I paid a little bit of attention.

But then I realised he wasn't plugging SW Ep3, but some adventure he and a friend had gone on and made into a TV show. Apparently he and Charley (who's this bloke?) had gotten on a couple of bikes and headed East from London to New York. Yup... that's right... they took the long way round, riding their big monster BMW (I guess in this case it's the ultimate riding machine) through Eastern Europe, Russia, Mongolia into Siberia.

Fast forward a couple of months and me in a pretty cool bookstore in town coming across this book with 2 rather familiar looking blokes on the cover. Actually I confess... by the end of the interview I'd known they'd also written a book and I've been searching for it. While reading it I had sudden urges to get myself a bike license, buy a BMW motorbike and head out to the remote wilderness of Russia and Mongolia.

The book was light reading and fun, although most readers complained that the 2 actors whined too much about missing family, the hardship and dissing the support crew, etc. That aside, it must have been an awesome trip, what with the relatively untouched lands they got to experience, the amazing local culture that's not quite been affected by western modernisation as yet. I wonder... if I'll ever get off my butt to do something similar?

James Blunt - Voice of a Fallen angel?

I listen to a lot of music, and all types too. But my personal favourites range from Keane, Coldplay, Jack Johnson types. Not your regular pop or rock fan. A friend once asked me if I've heard of James Blunt. I had not, but that was merely a week or so ago. I walked into my favourite music store last night and was handed this blue psychedelic looking CD. At one glance I thought, "OK, Jim Morrison's greatest hits or something." It wasn't.

It was James Blunt - Back to Bedlam. I remembered being asked if I'd heard of him, so I thought, cool... I'll have a listen. The sticker on the cover said something about good music, unique hooks, blah blah, from a voice of a fallen angel... Now I'm a fan of fallen angels... specifically John Milton's Paradise Lost, but I'll get to this in another post... so I had a listen and I'm hooked, pun not intended. This fella is good.

Another amusing thing I noticed on the CD was that This album contains lyrics of an adult nature. I like that comment... I might use it on this website sometime... This website contains ramblings of an adult nature. *sigh, enough... back to the topic at hand*

I like almost all of the songs, but my current top from this batch is You're beautiful... hmm, no... maybe Tears and Rain... oh, who cares... they're great.

You're Beautiful - James Blunt
My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw you face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.
Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Fucking high,
And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw you face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

Move over and let me by!

What do you do when you find yourself on the fast lane on the highway, going at what you think is an acceptable speed and you look into the rear view mirror only to see this ultimate driving machine barrelling towards you at high speed? Why, you move over and let me by, of course!

After all, I've got places to go, things to see, people to do... errr... I mean... well, you know. Anyway, yes, you let me by, after all, I've got destiny to keep. Whom god loves die young, right? So from a certain point of view, it's a win-win situation.

So what's my point? If you're not travelling at the speed of sound and someone else wants to, just move over and let the fella through. What you do not do is to stay at your current speed and lane. You indicate, move over and let me by. You also should not pick up speed and attempt to match the ultimate driving machine. You simply indicate, move over and let me by. Traffic on the other lane? That's what the indicator is for, so move over and let me by!

And don't bother to try to match or catch up after you've let me through... it's lame. Either don't let me catch up or just move over. Simple. Oh, one more thing... don't bother giving the dirty look when I pass... I won't be looking.

5 fingers and all

Well, I've done it... I'm now what you would call a blogger... not that it means anything. It's just an attempt to inject something new in my currently mundane life... it hadn't always been mundane, just so you know. It's had its share of excitement, fun, pain, regrets, joy, blah blah woof woof... but recently... it's just downright mundane!
Anyways, why starfeesh or 5 fingers? here's my stab at an explanation... starfish is a nickname given to me at one time... and since starfish had been taken, what else could I come up with? Then I was asked what I wanted this blog to be named... so I came up with 5 finger adventures... starfishes have 5 appendages, arms, fingers, wuteva, you know? It's also a play on my first attempt at writing... called seahorse adventures. If I continued to elaborate on that, I'd be digressing.
So, 5 fingers... cos I like to get involved in as many things as I possibly can... the fact that I might not stick to it in the end is beside the point... but in actual fact... it's how I actually carry 5 empty cans of Coke on one hand from my study to the recycle bin downstairs. Adventures cos I'm gonna ramble on about my life and how it's become pretty mundane and the attempts to get it going again.
And so it begins...
